Dois de um * 2015
Católica Escola das Artes (Porto, Portugal)
Dois de Um is a short film directed by José Duarte and produced by the School of Arts – Catholic University of Portugal (Porto, 2015). António Baía Reis composed the original soundtrack, shaping the film’s emotional logic through music that moves between intimacy and suspension, where what is said, what is withheld, and what is promised all resonate at once.
After the funeral of Amália’s father, Afonso and Amália meet in a café as strangers and, in a matter of minutes, slip into the strange acceleration of instant friendship, confessional, tender, disarming. Both reveal a secret they have never spoken aloud: they are gay. In that charged, fragile space, half refuge, half threshold, they make a pact: to come out to their parents in winter.
But time is not neutral. As the seasons turn, so do they, desire, courage, fear, and self-protection rearranging their inner weather. Dois de Um tracks that drift with quiet precision: how a promise can be sincere and still become difficult to carry; how identity is not only declared, but negotiated, again and again, against family, silence, and the slow pressure of change.
